Edgy Handbags Deliver Fashion and Function
Founders and creators, Loewe of Spain and Dan Segat, launched LODIS in 1965 to bring Madrid’s most exclusive leather goods house to the United States for the first time. LODIS’ heritage is founded on well made and luxurious pieces with quality leather. “As the brand has grown over the last 46 years, LODIS has kept its heritage by combining the beauty and time honored tradition of fine leather goods with a self assured design sensibility and eye for utility,” LODIS shares. The brand is all about classics with an edge, which is why they like taking different silhouettes and tweaking them – essentially giving them the LODIS treatment. Colorful, textured and vibrant, the LODIS collection of unique styles honors their heritage and moves forward with edge, confidence and style.
The line was named LODIS for Loewe of Spain and the founder Dan Segat, combining “lo” from Loewe with Dan Segat’s initials “dis” to create LODIS. LODIS is unique from other handbag designers because they really strive to combine fashion and function as their bags and small leather goods are not just beautiful, but also work very well. With lots of pockets and credit card slots, there is room for everything that one would want to carry with them. One of our favorites is the Alegra Evelyn Tote in Mushroom. This is the perfect handheld portfolio bag as its stylish and slim silhouette holds files, a netbook, or an iPad. The exterior is made of soft, buttery two-tone pebbled leather with a slight iridescent sheen and shiny nickel hardware. For a touch of edginess, it is accented with a turquoise contrast trim. This tote packs plenty of pockets as the outside has a magnetic and zip closure pocket while the inside features a zip closure pocket and 2 organizational pockets for a phone, pda, planner, and keys. It makes for a fabulous everyday essential bag that transitions perfectly from the office to weekend.
At LODIS, one of their company favorites at the moment is the Perri Tote, which is available in a number of collections since it is such a flexible bag. The Perri works beautifully as an oversized handbag and the crossbody strap makes her especially great when you need to be hands-free. This bag is roomy enough to fit a laptop or iPad and be a stylish business tote. Another plus are the outside magnetic pockets, which are a great place to stash phone and keys for easy access. “Fashion and function, it's what we try to achieve in all our bags and small leather goods,” LODIS shares. In coming up with ideas for their designs, the team at LODIS looks everywhere for inspiration and works with boutique tanneries in Europe to find amazing leathers. They also love trend scouting in Japan as the fashion scene is so stunning and original that it is hard not be inspired. LODIS also looks at vintage styles to see how they can be modernized.
LODIS offers four new collections a year as they are always introducing something new and fresh each season. As a
staple, they have their core Audrey collection available in Black and Red, but in true LODIS style, they update the collection each season with fashion colors. We selected the Audrey Dallas iPad Easel in red as our Editor’s Pick. The Audrey is described as “Quite simply, chic timeless beauty, refined and elegant” with its smooth grain leather, contrasting trim and interiors. The lovely red shade is classic and the portfolio style of this smooth leather case makes it chic and fun. You can be fashionable carrying your iPad or iPad2 in this gorgeous easel as the three rows of stand-up adjustability makes this a universal favorite for watching movies, reading, or typing. This easel has an ID window with thumb glide and a button snap closure.
LODIS has been featured in top fashion magazines such as Lucky, InStyle, Seventeen, Flare, Marie Claire and many more. With LODIS, you can rest assure that you are getting fashion, functionability, and quality in workmanship and material. LODIS can be found in specialty boutiques across the United States and fine department stores like Nordstrom. lodis.com
