Paige Novick

Paige Novick

Classic, Clean Jewelry Redefines Unrestrained Glamour

Paige NovickIn today’s world, jewelry trends come and go as quickly as the fads that surface each year.  When you look around, it is easy to find a designer who creates the piece of the moment that was spotted on the latest celebrity.  But what you do not easily find is a true designer that has an eye for architectural designs that can withstand the test of time.  Paige Novick is the exception because she offers high design at accessible price points with perceived long-term wearing value from the use of authentic stones and fine jewelry details lending an heirloom quality.  Rather than being trendy, her pieces are collectibles because they are perfect basics in a wide variety of finishes which are often purchased in multiples and can be mixed with pieces from previous seasons.  Paige Novick’s launch with Bergdorf Goodman in 2008 was the start of an empire for this New York Native.  Her experience working for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel in Paris has given her the edge in creating clean yet dramatic, feminine designs with iconic features such as handcrafted links, geometric slices and medallions.  They translate into everyday versatility, effortless style and functional design that is best described as, “Classic with a definite cool factor.”  Her jewelry is a “fusion of the feminine and the brute,” as her modern pieces recall the timeless elegance and high quality of costume jewelry from other eras.  Her statement pieces are becoming iconic and appeal to ageless and sophisticated women who enjoy the contrast of mediums and subtle glamour.

Paige was born, raised and educated in New York City.  As a student of New Lincoln High School, an extremely progressive and artistic institution, she considers herself a product of the city’s rich cultural scene as she was constantly exposed to museums, theater, film, dance, music and street activity.  Since both her parents were designers, Paige’s artistic eye developed at a young age and while she may not have been a whiz at buttoning a sweater or zipping a jacket, she could most certainly tell the difference between a herringbone and houndstooth like no other kindergartener.  By five years old, she vividly remembers appreciating and having the ability to identify interesting textures, materials and shades of colors.  Paige received a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature with a double minor in Art History and Film from New York University.  She studied abroad at Sorbonne University in Paris during her junior year and later returned to Paris after graduation to spend one year working and taking advanced courses in French Literature.  The stylist and artist within her was magnetically drawn to design as she pursued and landed a three-month summer internship with House of Chanel in Paris.  Paige says, “It was with this job that my fate was sealed – working for Karl Lagerfeld was the formative experience that served as the foundation for my career in the fashion industry.”

Paige NovickIn 2007, Paige noticed a void in the market (and her wardrobe) for modern, approachable jewelry, mainly accessories that went from day to night with a definite cool factor.  Embellishments seemed to be all the rage and rather than wait for the pendulum to swing, she decided to go for it and create her first collection of clean, architecturally inspired everyday pieces.  A year later, Paige officially launched with a trunk show at Bergdorf Goodman.  All pieces are handmade in Manhattan, New York.  From her Classic Collection, we selected a few delicious pieces to highlight.  The first Editor’s Pick is the Meghan Necklace, a weighty and sturdy necklace made of stainless steel and plated in your choice of silver, gunmetal, or 18k yellow/rose gold.  This layered chain and rondelle necklace is an absolute essential for any lady as it dresses up a simple tee and adds elegance to a blazer or dress.  We adore this necklace in rose gold as it is absolutely stunning in person.  One glance at the flat, wide, oval links accented with four Swarovski crystal rondelles will tell you this is a timeless piece.  The double tier necklace layers nicely on the neckline while the toggle clasp is a classy touch.

Paige NovickCelebrities such as Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Emma Stone and Erika Christenson purchase Paige Novick.  Paige describes her style of jewelry as “Uptown/ Downtown, or restrained glamour.”  That being said, she is a genius with understated yet spectacular earrings with a polished 18k gold finish.  The perfect everyday pair, Sarah Earrings, feature small oval hoops with pave crystals all around.  Measuring 1 ½” long, these earrings are lengthy enough to show off its design and sparkle while being simple for daily wear.  These earrings can be worn to the office to transition smoothly into the evening or going out.  The Paige Novick Classic Paige Novickcollection is updated regularly by adding new finishes, colors and textures, while new collections are also introduced each season and mid-season.  Paige adds, “Many of our pieces retain an heirloom quality because of the use of authentic stones and fine jewelry details so even “fashion “ styles may be layered on with existing classic pieces from season to season.”  For something fun and edgy, the Milo Earrings are an artistic take on the idea of traditional hoops by intertwining a classic hoop within a slimmer oval design.  Giving a three dimensional eye-catching effect that creates a look of movement, these earrings are sure to attract compliments as the stunning pave detail adds an heirloom quality.

Paige Novick is positioned as a luxury brand with a designer focused aesthetic, offering products at competitive prices.  In recent years, the lines between designer and contemporary have become less defined and as a result, they have been able to thrive in both high-end retailers and e-tailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Moda Operandi.  Just the same, the company also sells extremely well in advanced contemporary environments such as Scoop and Intermix.  In coming up with ideas for her designs, they come from everywhere, music to architecture to film, art, or her own imagination.  But Paige will always invoke her close friends when designing as they are her muses and inspire her endlessly.  Paige considers herself blessed with a stellar design and work team, without whom she could not be in business.  She is grateful for them everyday.  In five years, she envisions Paige Novick as an iconic lifestyle brand with a strong worldwide presence.  She also sees her company delving deeper with their message using their signature medallion as a springboard into other categories such as home accessories, shoes, and handbags.  Paige adds, “We are developing a fine gold collection as well as a diffusion line in order to broaden our outreach.”

Paige NovickPaige and her designs have been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, T Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, In Style, Women’s Wear Daily and Marie Claire. Currently, her personal favorites are art deco inspired from her Spring 2012 collection.  Paige is particularly fond of collars, such as the Peek-A-Boo and Bianca Bling Collars.  The Peek-A-Boo Necklace is a gorgeous open collar necklace, available in either gold or silver finish.  The architectural and modern design of this collar necklace is striking and stunning without being gaudy or over the top.  Adorned with sparkling crystals and held by lovely thick chain links, this necklace shows off the summer tan while adding style to any outfit.  She has always had a soft spot for earrings as they can brighten up the face.  She is obsessed with the oversized Gia Earrings and adores the Sage Earrings in silver, which look like white gold and diamonds.  Paige also loves her new Spring metal and neon enamel cuffs in yellow and hot pink as they are great for the upcoming season.  The Sadie Cuff is a fabulous addition to any spring or summer wardrobe as the cool sterling silver shine is perfect against the bright citrus yellow shade of enamel.  This wide cuff measures 2 ½” and features sliced enamel insets with crystals adorning the center line.  The cuff is also available in hot pink and silver, or coral, white, cobalt, and turquoise with gold. Paige Novick

Paige continues pursuing creativity in her life in myriad ways, from problem solving and cooking without a recipe to writing her blog, dressing up or down and storytelling with her son.   She always tries to inject the unexpected and outside of the box thinking into her everyday routines.  Paige is also altruistic as she participates in charity involvement with non-profit organizations such as Planned Parenthood, Urban Pathways, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, The UJA Federation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.  She designed a “Promise” bracelet for Pencils of Promise, an organization that builds schools in developing parts of the world.  20% of the proceeds from the sale of the bracelet will help continue the charity’s mission of building schools in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Paige NovickThroughout her travels, each country has been inspirational on some level but if she had to chose, her most inspiring destination would be Cuba because of the country’s rich cultural offerings.  “It’s a throwback to another era from the cars to the architecture and the modern art museum is the best I’ve seen,” she says.  As for her personal favorite jewelry designer, Paige remains in awe of the late, Tony Duquette, and consider him a true visionary, brilliant designer and an artist who used jewelry as his medium.  Paige is a “real film buff” and enjoys watching foreign films in her spare time, as well as reading, cooking and seeing close friends.  Her most recent obsession has been tennis.  Paige imparts her words of wisdom, “Take heed of the advice of others, but ultimately tune into your own inner voice.  Thank you for allowing me to share my story!”
