Lisa Stewart Jewelry

Blond Ambition Behind a Mix of Modern and Classic Jewelry

Lisa Stewart JewelryLaunched in 2004, Lisa Stewart Jewelry features a sophisticated and classic mix of jewelry made with 18k gold vermeil, semi-precious stones, along with some shiny silver and dark gunmetal pieces.  The same year of her debut, she was nominated for the prestigious Gen Arts Fresh Faces in Fashion Award by the editor of Angeleno Magazine.  Her timeless pieces incorporate fresh and modern designs with clean lines and simple shapes for bare elegance.  Lisa has always exhibited creativity as she drew, painted, and wrote.  Moving towards jewelry designing seemed like a good way for her to express her creativity in a way that could also be turned into a business.  Lisa began teaching herself jewelry making as a hobby when she was married, and later turned her hobby into a career when she got divorced in order to make money.

Lisa attended Boston University for two years and then transferred to New York University to major in Art History while also studying French and Political Science.  She likely inherited her creativity from her parents as her father is a composer, painter, and author of several books, and her mother writes lyrics and cookbooks.  Expressing herself creatively was something she grew up with.  Lisa was born in New York but fondly embraces her great upbringing as her family moved to London for three years when she was twelve.  Living in a foreign country was a great experience for her.

Lisa Stewart JewelryThe Camellia Necklace is gorgeous and feminine and the perfect piece to welcome spring.  An eye-catching camellia pendant displaying intricate details from the grooves in the petals to the tiny bulbs of the stigma hangs from a 16” gold chain.  In catching all the beautiful details of the gorgeous flower as it shimmers through its golden luster, this necklace is utterly romantic.  The camellia pendant itself measures approximately 1”.  This can be paired with the matching Camellia Ring that is reminiscent of vintage Chanel.  Lisa Stewart Jewelry is different because her designs and styles do not follow the obvious seasonal trends that come and go.  Rather, her designs are classic with a modern twist and never seem outdated as they can be worn for years to come.  Celebrities including Nicole Ritchie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, Hilary Duff, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Mary-Kate, and Ashley Olsen have worn Lisa Stewart.  The sweetheart that Lisa is shares, “I honestly get excited when I see anyone wearing my designs, famous or not…If I see someone in one of my pieces I will go right up to them and introduce myself.”

Lisa Stewart JewelryIn sharing her favorite piece, Lisa values the Serenity Prayer Bracelet because “it is the one item that people over and over again tell me has brought them so much happiness to them and for whoever they have given it to as a gift.”  The cuff bracelet has an adjustable black strap with the ancient serenity prayer inscribed on the wide id plate.  She gets her ideas from magazines, her friends, observing people, and women whose style she admires.  “I often will see something and then re-imagine it in my own style and then it becomes my own,” Lisa shares.  She considers herself lucky to have lived in Lisa Stewart JewelryParis for a year where she was inspired by French fashion and is a lifelong Chanel fan.  She is also inspired by vintage designs as she is crazy for Art Deco and Edwardian jewelry.  If you opt for minimalism when it comes to accessorizing, the 18k Matte Vermeil Tiny Oval Earrings are great for even those who do not wear earrings.  These perfect tiny ovals possess a high quality 18k shiny gold matte that catches the light as it moves.  The earrings are so lightweight and comfortable that you barely even know they are there.

All pieces are designed and created by Lisa herself.  The classic pieces always remain in the line while new designs are added throughout the year.  Her style is eclectic and can vary from clean and simple to fancy and baroque as she is a Gemini and never knows how she is going to feel when she works each day.  “I think a little bit of each sensibility ends up in the collection,” she adds.  Lisa uses base metal plated in 14k gold and keeps her customers in mind as she tries extremely hard to be price conscious in this economy while also offering them pieces that look expensive even if they are not.  For simplicity and modern elegance, we love the Round Link Chain with Circle Necklace because it is a great Lisa Stewart Jewelryeveryday piece that can practically go with any outfit.  Small gold vermeil chain links encircle the entire necklace with a classic gold circle in the center.  The small circle rests perfectly on the clavicle and the shape is so universal that this can be worn to work, school, or while taking care of the kids.  As Gisele Bundchen knows, you cannot go wrong with ordering this piece.  Looking ahead, she sees her line growing and selling to more department stores and more people becoming familiar with the Lisa Stewart line.

Lisa is a single mother and is proud to have her own successful business and still be able to pick up her kid from school daily as that is extremely important to her.  For Lisa, “the most important thing to remember is …don’t give up no matter what…that’s what you do when you have a passion” as she has experienced days when she has been so overwhelmed that she doubted whether she could do it one more day.  But she found that energy to continue one more day at a time when she would get an order from a new account or see someone who tells her how much they love her jewelry.  Her mission statement is to be a source of encouragement to single career moms.  Lisa Stewart Jewelry is sold at Neiman Marcus, Max and Chloe,, and many boutiques nationwide.  Of course, all pieces can be purchased directly from her own website
