Janna Conner Designs

Editor’s Pick
Flirty, Fun, Pretty Little Things

Janna Conner DesignsBorn and raised in Los Angeles, Janna Conner is a “California girl” who is California dreamin’ as her successful jewelry line is being featured on the pages of fashion magazines everywhere.  Janna is the sole creator and designer of Janna Conner Designs, an exquisite line of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings that no girl can resist.  Her style is clean, simple, and modern, yet youthful and elegant enough to be worn by women of all ages.  Janna enjoys working with a plethora of materials, like semi-precious stones and a range of metals to provide beautiful, high-quality jewelry at an accessible price.  Each piece is handcrafted in her design studio, using only the highest quality Czechoslovakian glass, semi-precious stones, natural minerals, and crystals.  Janna Conner Designs has been featured in InStyle, Instyle Weddings, Marie Claire, Lucky, Glamour, Jane, Modern Bride, Life & Style, and many more.  Celebrities like Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Rachel Ray, Nelly Furtado, Debra Messing, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Katherine McPhee also adore Janna Conner Designs.

Janna Conner DesignsStarting with earrings, a simple yet flattering piece that dangles with style are the Gold Pier Earrings.  These earrings feature small and medium sized onyx cabochons set in gold plated holders linked together.  These add enough flair and class without being flashy or overburdening.  The flirty Gold Kona Earrings are a stunning pair as they feature glistening, faceted Golden Shadow Swarovski crystals Janna Conner Designshanging from 14K goldfill chains. These carefully cut crystals hang 2.25" long and sparkle with every turn.  For everyday wear, the Silver Pyramid Studs are plain but chic at the same time because they can be worn with a t-shirt and jeans or a party dress.  These small studs are perfectly proportioned to deliver just the right amount of glam, and are also available in vermeil.

Janna has always been interested in the arts and ever since she was a child, has enjoyed crafting things, from candles and painting to mosaics to classes in drawing, painting, jewelry, graphic design, photography, and pottery.  Her interest for jewelry design began as a hobby in high school when she started getting compliments on her pieces from local boutique owners.  As some of them approached her about carrying her designs, she created jewelry on a small scale while studying at UCLA.  In her studies, she took classes in Japanese, Chinese, and European art, as well as the history of architecture.  To further her artistic skills, Janna took several studio art classes at Otis Art College and UCLA.  After graduating in 1998 with a B.A. in History, Janna decided to try designing full time.  She says, “I never thought that it would take me this far and I'm still enjoying success almost ten years later!”

Janna Conner Designs is unique “in its constant attention to innovation, refinement, and customer satisfaction.”  Her constantly changing line Janna Conner Designsfeatures three main collections annually with two supplements in between to keep her designs fresh and fashionable.  She is proud of her customer service as she values customer feedback, and has established long lasting relationships with customers as a result.  Currently, her favorite designs are from her electroform collection, which plates semi-precious stones with 24K gold to impart the look of fine jewelry for a very affordable price.  The Gold Teardrop Janna Conner DesignsSarotte Earrings are dark carnelian faceted, semi-precious teardrops plated in a smooth 24K gold along its edges casting a regal glow, while still capturing its sanguine color through the light.  Another beloved piece is the Gold Thierry Necklace, featuring a double strand 14K goldfill necklace with an inner necklace of a small vermeil pear droplet and a small freshwater pearl along with an outer necklace featuring an electroform gold plated raspberry jade teardrop.  This piece is unlike any other as it actually features two necklaces combined as one to make a double impression with its gold plating over the vivid semi-precious stone.

Her main source of creative inspiration for ideas and designs stems from her travels and art.  Janna’s travels through Asia and Europe have helped shape her aesthetic sensibility in bringing a unique cosmopolitanism to her designs.  Even as a college student, she studied abroad in Hong Kong, spent a summer in Beijing, and became conversant in Mandarin while absorbing the local culture.  While living in Asia, Janna also had the opportunity to travel to China, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.  Not only did Janna find ideas and inspiration from her travels, but she also found true love.  Janna met her husband while doing an accessories trade show in Paris, and like a storybook romance, got married in Le Mesnil St.Denis, just outside of Versailles, with a traditional French ceremony.

Her latest travels have centered around her husband’s family in Belgium and France, and her new appreciation for French style, craft and quality blossomed with her recent visits.  Janna also got the opportunity to explore contemporary Flemish design and Antwerp’s thriving jewelry and fashion industry while visiting her husband’s extended family in Belgium.  Wherever she may be, Janna makes an effort to explore local boutiques, art galleries, museums, and soak in the culture. But Janna is a So-Cal girl at heart and says, “at the end of the day, I design pieces that I myself would like to wear.”  Her favorite designers at the moment are Anthony Nak for his innovative draping technique with chains, and Pommellato for their beautiful stones and luxurious feel.

Janna Conner DesignsWith such a diverse selection of necklaces to choose from, narrowing down our favorites was like choosing between chocolate and vanilla.  The Diamond Necklace is a long 28” strand of gold plated diamonds interspersed along a 14K goldfill cable chain.  The carefully crafted diamond shaped gold silhouettes along the gold chain makes a modern statement while also exuding elegance.  Janna Conner DesignsThis is also available in silver plate and just as eye-catching.  The Gold Masako Necklace is made of a faceted cubic zirconia teardrop and a violet freshwater pearl against a gold plated hammered coin, suspended from a delicate goldfill chain.  For a more personalized touch, the Gold Medium Charm Necklace will be sure to please.  A silver or gold plated medium hammered coin is adorned with a cursive initial charm in contrasting plating, on a necklace chain.   The contrast of the gold against the silver is crisp, clean, and simple.

Janna Conner DesignsIf the romantic in you is yearning for a touch of vintage, the Gold Emille Necklace is our pick.  A small vermeil chain of circular links is adorned with a gold plated initial coin, a round locket, gold clover silhouette, and a cabochon of salmon coral.  The initial can be personalized for that extra special touch, and Janna Conner Designsthis necklace adds a breath of Victorian romanticism when worn with a silk or lace blouse.  A breath-taking piece made of semi-precious stones is the Gold Morgan Necklace, displaying a strand of faceted, unique semi-precious Blue Flower Agate ovals hand wire-wrapped together.  The faceted ovals of turquoise blue married with earthy brown and burnt red is exquisite.  This bold piece will stand out against any solid top and is sure to be noticed.

Janna hopes to continue the level of growth she has achieved up to this point, and in the future, anticipates developing a fine jewelry line and possibly even opening up a store to showcase her two lines.  Outside of her business, Janna is devoted to women’s issues like education, domestic violence and homelessness.  She enjoys volunteering at her favorite charitable organization, the Downtown Women’s Center, and providing jewelry for fundraising and holiday or birthday events.  She is more than happy to support this Los Angeles facility because it provides a safe and supportive community for homeless women.

Janna Conner Designs also carries such gorgeous rings that you will want one for each day of the week.  Her signature wire-wrapped rings come in various band widths, sizes, and stones.  If you prefer dainty and thin band rings, the Gold Lien Stackable Rings are a set of three 14K gold plated brass rings.  Janna Conner DesignsEach ring holds a goldfill wire wrapped garnet cubic zirconia stone. They look fabulous when worn alone or stacked together as a set.  The Gold Large Teardrop Ring offers a wider band and a larger faceted quartz teardrop with wire wrapping.  Select your stone from a choice of light blue quartz, emerald quartz, cherry quartz, amethyst, and more.  Janna Conner Designs can be found in boutiques and national department stores including Henri Bendel, Kitson, Fred Segal, Macy’s and Bloomingdales.  To view her full and current collection, visit her website and online store at
