Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

El Segundo’s Premier Fine Dining

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarSteakhouses in Los Angeles are a dime a dozen as they are everywhere from downtown to mid-city to the beach and Westside.  But diners who live in the Southbay or Marina area know that El Segundo’s restaurant row has much to offer and holds one of the best steakhouses for premium steaks and fine wines.  Fleming’s Steakhouse in El Segundo on Rosecrans Avenue is the spot to hit for a celebration dinner, a night out with the girls, or to just enjoy delicious food and fine wines.  Offering a vast menu of small plates for groups who want to share or full entrees offering steak and seafood, Fleming’s is always bustling with diners who eagerly return again and again.  Headed by Operating Partner, Kenyon Paar and Chef Partner, Mark Ogren, this Fleming’s location offers exceptional food and wine with the finest prime steak and award-winning wine list.  Paar is frequently spotted in the dining area talking to guests and making sure they are taken care of while Ogren commands the kitchen with precision.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarThe décor is modern, inviting, and warm.  Rich honey wood throughout the restaurant with pristine white tablecloths keeps it classy while the soft amber dome lights above provide just the right amount of light to set the mood and atmosphere.  Since Paul Fleming and Bill Allen opened their first Fleming’s location in Newport Beach in 1998, other locations have sprouted and continued to earn numerous awards, including the coveted Wine Spectator magazine award.  The warm richness and upbeat aura of the restaurant blankets the clientele as couples, families and groups enjoy their meals at a table or watch a big sports game in the cozy bar area.  Fleming’s is a great choice for happy hour with their sure to please “5 For $6 ’Til 7” bar menu, featuring 5 tempting appetizers, 5 premium cocktails and 5 distinctive wines by the glass for only $6 each and served nightly until 7 p.m.

While the atmosphere is busy, service is stellar as usual with attentive and accommodating waiters.  At Fleming’s, diners can enjoy a nice evening without feeling rushed or ignored.  Exceptional steaks and quality wines go hand in hand as any respectable steakhouse knows.  Fleming’s goes above and beyond expectations by offering premium wines by the glass, with the option of allowing diners to create their own flight trio of wines to taste.  Xenophiles will not be disappointed with the wine list, offering over 100 wines from only the best wineries.  Diners can enjoy this wine flight option by choosing three wines to taste from the extensive wine list. This easy option gives diners the chance to try different wines in deciding which wine they might eventually like with their entrée or meal.  Two fabulous white wines are the Conumdrum White Blend, which has a sweet essence that is light and floral, perfect for sipping, and the Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc, buttery and aromatic with a soft seductive bite.  A fabulous red is the Duckhorn Migration Pinot Noir, which has enough body to hold up to a steak but tapering off with a smooth finish.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarEach table starts off with a tray of fresh parmesan bread and two delicious creamy spreads.  For those who want to try a bit of everything, the small plates menu was designed for just that.  Perfect for diners who have smaller appetites or large parties who want to order a variety tasting menu for table sharing.  Notable small plate options include Sliced Filet Mignon on Shiitake Risotto, New Zealand Petite Lamb Chops with polenta fries, Ahi Tuna Skewers, and Lobster Tempura.  Appetizers range from traditional to non-traditional and everything in between with options like French Onion Soup, Roasted Mushroom Ravioli, Sweet Chile Calamari, and Wicked Cajun Barbecue Shrimp.  While Tuna Tartare is not on the menu, it can be requested.  Flavored well with soy sauce, green onions, and more, the diced Ahi tuna is delicious with the fried crispy wonton chips.  Seafood lovers should not pass up the Chilled Seafood Tower, a stunning platter of lobster tails, large shrimp, picked crab meat, crab legs, and oysters atop ice.  This is an absolute delight as all of the seafood is sweet, fresh, and succulent.  The lobster tails and shrimp are plump and juicy while the chilled oysters were fresh and flavorful.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarWhile everything on the menu is excellent, be sure to pay attention to their nightly specials on steaks and seafood because they are always creative and appetizing.  The special of the night, a Bone-In Filet was absolutely unbelievable and one of the best steaks available.  This bone-in filet is tender like a filet mignon but with the flavor and richness of a rib-eye.  A filet and rib-eye in one, this steak offers the best of both worlds.  Requested rare, the filet was cooked to perfection with its cool center and nicely seared crust.  All of Fleming's beef is USDA prime, corn fed, and aged up to four weeks to capture flavor and maximize tenderness.  Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarSteaks are hand-cut daily for freshness.  Fleming’s other steaks, like the Rib-eye or Prime New York Strip, are just as fabulous since every cut is amazing.  Steaks are served with Fleming’s dipping sauces.  The SA17 is absolutely exciting as it is tangy with a nice kick.  The Madeira sauce is rich, savory and splendid.  Also note, a Prime Rib Dinner is available on Sundays and includes a choice of salad, one side dish and dessert.  Fleming’s also offers amazing alternatives such as Nagle Veal Chop, Double Thick Pork Rib Chop, Alaskan Rock Petrale Sole, Scottish Salmon Filet and more.

Fleming’s offers generous servings of their side dishes which are ordered a la carte for table sharing.  Any diner would want to try them all as it is difficult to choose just a few.  Be sure to try their house specialty, the Fleming’s Potatoes, made with thin layered slices of potatoes baked in a creamy sauce with jalapenos and topped with melted cheddar cheese.  These potatoes will not disappoint as they will leave you wanting more and possibly placing another order to go.  Other notable sides are their Chipotle Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese, made with smoked cheddar and leeks, Baked Potato with the works, and their Half and Half with double-cut shoestring fries and signature onion rings.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarAnd just when you think the meal could not get any better, its time for dessert.  Favorites like the New York Cheesecake, Chocolate Lava Cake, and Walnut Turtle Pie are sinfully rich and decadent.  But if you are celebrating a special occasion, be sure to try the Celebration Cake, which is especially reserved in numbers for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and such.  A gargantuan chocolate square with multiple layers of chocolate cake in between creamy chocolate mousse is one of the best cakes in the city.  Fleming’s in El Segundo is sure to become a favorite as the staff is always friendly and helpful.  But most importantly, if you want a memorable experience with great food and award-winning wines, Fleming’s is the place to be.  For reservations, call 310-643-6911 or visit online at
