Doggie Diva Dog Boutique

Doggie Diva Dog Boutique

A Doggie Shopper’s Paradise That Truly Has It All

Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueThe Doggie Diva Dog Boutique is an online shop and sanctuary for dog lovers everywhere.  This unique upscale dog boutique offers amazing dog products from dog treats and designer dog clothes and beds to strollers, joggers, airline approved carriers, and thousands of other upscale, luxury, sporty, fun and cool dog products.  Rachel Hazan is the sole owner of Doggie Diva, along with tremendous help from her unpaid intern and biggest supporter, her mother.  Doggie Diva sets itself apart from competitors by treating customers the way they would want to be treated.  Rachel has always been in the hospitality industry most of her life before starting her business, saying, “I truly believe that excellent, personalized customer service is the key to a successful and fulfilling business. The pretty, useful, high quality and diverse mix of products offered also sets Doggie Diva apart.”  Rachel keeps her inventory new and fun but also keeps many of her popular items in stock. She has appeared on the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet and manages the new dog boutique online designer dog clothes blog.  The blog ( features reviews on dog products and clothes, product recalls, pet lovers forum, pet expos and events, contests and giveaways.

Rachel launched Doggie Diva because she always dreamed of starting her own retail business and knew she wanted to sell.  She attended Nassau Community College and later Stony Brook University.  In college, she studied art because she wanted to be an art teacher but changed her mind halfway through because she wanted to run her own business.  Although Rachel was not sure exactly what merchandise to market, she started by selling at a local high end flea market in Pennsylvania.  Soon, she started attending numerous gift shows and even dragged her stepmother to the New York Gift Show.  They walked the aisles looking for something interesting for to possibly sell and Rachel recalls seeing a booth with ribbed dog tank tops strung on a clothesline with clothes pins.  She found the funny sayings of “Bitches Love Me” or “I’m Not Fat, Just Fluffy” adorable and to her surprise, even discovered her stepmother, who dislikes dogs, loved them as well.  “That is when the light bulb in my head went off and I said, if my stepmom, who doesn’t even like dogs loves these, then I can’t imagine dog lovers not loving them,” Rachel says.  She placed her first minimum order, sold them at the flea market, and people loved them.  As this was before the entire industry was inundated with such, Rachel remembers how they put smiles on everyone’s faces.  In short, her business snowballed from a tiny table at a local flea market into a full-time dog boutique carrying over 2000 dog products.

Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueThe boutique carries many organic and natural brands, including Westpaw Designs, which is known for their superior products that are also environmentally friendly.  The Eco Nap Eco-Friendly Dog Mat is an adorable and eco-friendly flat dog bed made of IntelliLoft fabric made with 85% recycled material that looks and feels great at the same time.  What use to be soda bottles is now eco-fabric that is plush, soft and oh-so touchable.  Your dog will immediately enjoy this soft and warm floor mat and mark it as a favorite.  Milled in Montana, USA, the reclaimed fibers from post-consumer recycled plastic adds reclaimed durability.  This lightweight mat is easy to care for with its simple one-piece machine wash and dry.  This mat is third party certified for safety so that owners can rest easy knowing that these dog beds have been carefully tested and free of potentially harmful substances.  The modern and colorful design features a different color on each side of the mat and is available in six fabulous color combinations.

Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueDogs love to play and the perfect toy that offers long lasting give and pull is the Hedgehog Pentapull Dog Toy.  Manufactured by Doggles, the Pentapull is one tough tug toy that is meant for shaking, tugging and throwing.  Each of the four legs are made of four layers of ballistic nylon and hold a unique squeaker.  This toy is tough enough to withstand a feisty canine because it is made without seams as the head to tail and arms and legs are all one piece to avoid ripping open and exposing the insides.  This fun and durable toy has five appealing squeakers for hours of fun.  Rachel came into this world with a creative spirit as she always planned extravagant parties in her spare time.  Her wedding was even written and published in Modern Bride for its creativity.  She also enjoys making crafts with her daughter or just about anything pretty.  She shares, “I have always tried to keep the pretty and creative in my dog business, even down to my pink and brown business cards and wrapping.”  Throughout her life, her mother has been her biggest cheerleader, as she helps working for Doggie Diva without a salary and is always there for Rachel.

Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueAs for favorite items from her extensive selection of all things dog, Rachel loves selling Kwigy Bo dog carriers because this high-end designer line products dog carriers that look like regular, fashionable women’s purses.  Made with high quality, people really love these luxurious dog carriers.  Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueShe also likes selling Pet Zip dog jogging strollers because they are one of the best, if not the best, quality dog stroller on the market.  These joggers are very popular and look very nice.  Both of these product brands are run by good people, which is no surprise they turn out great products.  As for treats, Rachel likes the elk antler dog treats because they are a long lasting dog treat that dogs love.  Rachel is a dog lover but just lost her Husky Lab mix, Heidi, who had been her inspiration for so much in Doggie Diva and an amazing companion and model.  Heidi’s picture is on the logo of the Doggie Diva blog.  Rachel and her family just adopted a new Australian Shepherd puppy named Rain that is already an amazing dog.

Doggie Diva Dog BoutiqueWe love the wide selection of dog clothes, from shirts, tank tops, and jackets to sweaters, jumpsuits and hoodies.  Keep your couture canine warm with the Pearl Knit Dog Sweater, an adorable and fashionable stripe dog sweater.  This warm and cozy pearl knit dog sweater is just like Grandma would knit and features a turtleneck collar, leash hole and leg straps to keep the sweater secure on the back.  The color stripes of yellow, pink, green, purple and blue with dark brown edge trim is eye-catching and fun.  With three knit colorful flowers on the back of the sweater, your lucky lady will be receiving oohhs and aahhs wherever she goes.  For the future, Rachel hopes to see the Doggie Diva Dog Boutique grow online to the point where she can hire a real, paid staff and house more products for her customers.  She points out, “Many of our products currently ship direct from the manufacturer or various distributors and it can be challenging. Bringing more stuff in-house allows more quality control and better customer service.”  Rachel would also love to manufacture her own dog collars and dog beds since she loves colors and fabrics.

On a personal note, Rachel has been happily married for almost seven years and is the mom of a loving and beautiful three and a half year old daughter.  Her little girl loves helping the business and is always happy to pick out pretty dog clothes for the models.  While juggling her full-time business and caring for their daughter and household has been a challenge, she is still somehow figuring things out.  “I am very proud of Doggie Diva because I built it from scratch…from designing and building the website and blog to adding over 2000, I quadrupled my sales in 2011 from 2010 with no real professional help… just blood, sweat and tears,” Rachel shares.  It has been hard work but she finds it very rewarding when she can provide products that make people happy.
